Amaravati, March 18, 2022: In a setback to the landless poor in the Amaravati capital city region, the state government has dropped plans to increase their pension amount to 5,000 per month from 2,500 per month.
The decision has been taken following the withdrawal of CRDA Repeal Act. About 20,100 landless poor were identified in the region after the announcement of Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) by the previous TDP government. The pension was announced following the loss of employment due to takeover of agriculture fields under LPS.
Responding to a question raised by TDP members Anagani Satyaprasad, Adireddy Bhavani and Dr DBV Swamy, municipal administration and urban development minister Botcha Satyanarayana on Wednesday said the proposal to increase the pension to the landless poor of Amaravati was part of Act 27 of 2020. “Since the Act was repealed, the proposal to increase pensions was also taken back,” said Botcha.
He said there was no delay in release of pensions to the landless poor as the government has been regularly releasing the amounts. “Pensions for the landless poor in the Amaravati region were paid till December 2021 and January and February bills are under process,” Botcha said.
Responding to a question by YSRC legislators Maddisetty Venugopal, Vasantha Krishna Prasad, K Abbaiah Chowdary, K Srinivasa Rao and Merugu Nagarjuna, the minister said proposals relating to another 31 large and mega industries with an investment outlay of 41,434 crore were in the initial stages of implementation.
