Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister welcomes new Governor S. Abdul Nazeer

Vijayawada, February 13, 2023: Former Supreme Court judge, S. Abdul Nazeer has been appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. The incumbent Governor, Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, has been transferred as the Governor of Chhattisgarh.

Justice (retired) Nazeer is the third Governor of Andhra Pradesh. E.S.L. Narasimhan served as the first Governor of Andhra Pradesh after the State bifurcation in 2014. Mr Harichandan assumed charge as the second Governor on July 24 2019.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy congratulated Justice (retired) Nazeer on his appointment through a Twitter message on February 12 (Sunday).

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that it was his privilege to welcome Justice (retired) Nazeer. “I look forward to working with you in unravelling Andhra Pradesh’s full potential. Welcome Sir!” he said.

The Chief Minister, in a separate message on Twitter, said that he was privileged to work with the incumbent Governor, Biswa Bhusan Harichandan. “I thank him for the services he rendered to our State and will always cherish my fruitful association with him. I wish him my best in his new role as the Governor of Chhattisgarh,” said Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

According to the reports published in thehindu.com Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, N. Chandrababu Naidu also extended greetings to the new Governor. “Justice Abdul Nazeer is known to be a man of integrity & honesty. I’m sure he will be at the forefront to protect the values of democracy enshrined in our Constitution. Wishing him much success!” Mr. Naidu said.

Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy also welcomed the Governor.
