Vijayawada, Mary 31, 2022: Kurnool boy Yaswanthkumar Reddy Challapalle secured 15th rank in the Union Public Service Commission’s civil services examination, the results of which were declared on Monday, to top the Telugu states.
He secured 93rd rank in the 2020 civil services examination, and is currently undergoing IPS training in Hyderabad. Altogether, about 10 candidates from the two Telugu states made it to the top 100.
P Sahitya from Andhra Pradesh secured 24th rank, while Mantra Mourya Bharadwaj from Narsipatnam got 28th rank. As many as 20 candidates from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have found place in the 685 appointments announced by the UPSC.
Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and governor Biswabhusan Harichandan congratulated the successful candidates. “It is a proud moment for Andhra Pradesh as 10 candidates secured top ranks among the 685 names announced by the UPSC,” said the governor.
Yaswanthkumar said he earlier served as the assistant commissioner of taxes with the Andhra Pradesh government for nearly three-anda-half years by securing third rank in AP Group-I services. “My civil services journey dates back to 2016 when I decided to tread this public service path,” he told TOI. A gold medallist from JNTU-Kakinada, he initially worked as information system officer in Indian Oil Corporation in Bengaluru after his graduation but never gave up his civil services dream.
Mourya Bharadwaj, the 28th ranker from Narsipatnam, was drawing a hefty salary package in an MNC before he started his civil services preparations. “My parents encouraged me a lot. They are my main inspiration in this journey,” said Bhardwaj.
Tharun Patnaik Madala, who belongs to Rajahmundry, achieved 99th rank. Tharun, who has done mechanical engineering from IIT-Guwahati, said he was inspired towards civil services by his father since childhood according to the reports published in .
Dr Koppisetty Kiranmayi from Valasapakala village under Kakinada rural mandal bagged 56th rank. She completed her MBBS and MS from Osmania University before fulfilling her childhood dream of cracking the civil services examination. Kannedhara Manoj Kumar from Pedakurapadu in Palnadu district, who secured 157th rank, said his passion to serve the needy and help the poor made him choose civil services. “Rigorous practice and preparation helped me crack the examination in the second attempt,” Manoj said.
