Andhra Pradesh changes Muharram holiday to August 20

Amaravati, August 19, 2021: State government has changed public holiday on account of Muharram to Friday from Thursday. The decision has been taken following the Union government’s decision to change the public holiday from August 19 to August 20.
Chief secretary Dr Adityanath Das gave his nod for the change in the public holiday. Similarly, the optional holiday for the employees has been shifted to Thursday from Wednesday according to the reports published in timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
All the offices of Central and state governments and local bodies will remain closed on Friday. Similarly, Banks, shops and establishments will also observe the public holiday on Friday under negotiable instruments Act, said chief secretary Dr Adityanath Das.
