Amaravati, July 19, 2021: Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will visit Polavaram project on Monday to take stock.
The chief minister will leave Tadepalli at 10.10 am and reach the project site by 11 am. He will inspect the project works till 12 noon.
He will conduct a review meeting with the officials for about an hour. The CM will share his views on putting the works on further fast track to complete the project by next June.
Meanwhile, the West Godavari district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the chief minister’s visit. District collector Kartikeya Mishra met tribals in the project submergence area and promised full support. He said that they would evacuate the families from the submerged area only after payment of compensation. He directed the ITDA project director to take measures to provide basic amenities in the project oustees colonies according to the reports published in timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
The collector asked officials to provide vegetables, rice and other essential commodities to the flood victims immediately. He inspected the villages affected by flood in the last two days ahead of the chief minister’s visit.
The special officer of R&R project, O Anand, said they were taking measures to relocate people from 22 villages, in the first phase.
He said they have identified people from 19 villages in Polavaram mandal and three villages in Velerupadu mandal that would be required to be relocated to the R&R colonies. He said that they have requested the state government to immediately grant Rs 256 crore for the completion of R&R works before August, 2021.
The officials have also readied details of the project displaced families to ensure payment of cash compensation of Rs 10 lakh to each family. The officials said that 3,704 families would get the amount within 10 days.
