Andhra Pradesh DGP’s ‘inactive’ Twitter account hacked, case registered

Vijayawada, January 25, 2023: The matter came to light after posts with clips of hacked account started doing rounds on social media platforms.

Some unidentified persons on Monday hacked the Twitter account of the Andhra Pradesh‘s Director General of Police and posted an obscene photograph on the platform. Clips of the hacked account were being shared on social media platforms. The technical wing of the police removed the photograph and restored the account.

According to reports, the cybercrime department of the police registered a case and started probing into the matter. The account was created in 2019 and was not being operated since 2020, said a top official to news agency IANS.

“The account was hacked and obscene photos from were liked from it and the video showing them was being circulated deliberately. A case was registered with the Cyber Crime police against the hackers, and necessary action will be taken,” the top official told the news agency according to the reports published in hindustantimes.com.

The matter came to light after posts with clips of hacked account started doing rounds on social media platforms. Currently, the account is restored with a few posts and no profile pictures.
