Hyderabad , November 06, 2023 : The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday issued a notification changing Deepavali festival holiday from November 12 to November 13.

According to the list of holidays released earlier by the government, Diwali falls on November 12 of. However, minor changes have been made in the list of general holidays and optional holidays. The government has declared 13th November as a general holiday instead of an optional holiday.
The announcement comes as good news for employees and students alike who were disappointed that the Diwali holiday was on November 12. But now with this announcement they will get a holiday on Monday.
The change in Diwali holiday will be applicable to employees as well as offices and business establishments on November 13. Diwali holiday has been changed to Monday. Public and private schools and colleges in AP have announced holidays for two consecutive days on Sunday and Monday. Also, two days of holidays are coming to the government offices.
The Andhra Pradesh government usually announces the calendar of all general holidays for employees in the month of December each year. Accordingly, the government had declared Diwali holiday on November 12 but this year, it was pushed to the next day based on the suggestion of scholars. according to the reports published in www.news9live.com .
List of holidays this month
Since November 14 is Children’s Day, there will be an extended holiday for schools and colleges. November 25 is a holiday since it is the fourth Saturday of the month. Guru Nanak Jayanthi falls on November 27 where a few schools and colleges will get holidays.
The Telangana government is also said to be mulling about changing the Diwali holiday to November 13 but there has been no official announcement yet. This year Chaturdashi will be on Sunday, November 12 till 1.53 PM. Vedic scholars are said to be of the opinion that Diwali should be celebrated on November 12.
