Vijayawada, November 26, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu on Monday launched the ‘Raitanna Meekosam’ programme at Ghantasala village in the Avanigadda constituency, joined by MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad. The initiative is part of the government’s five-principle strategy to strengthen the farm sector and promote the overall development of farmers.
He underscored the importance of water management and recalled irrigation measures taken by N. T. Rama Rao and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, adding that the Krishna Delta has not experienced water scarcity for nearly a decade. He urged farmers to adopt demand-based crops such as ragi, jowar and bajra, and highlighted the role of mechanisation and drone technology in improving efficiency.
Mr. Atchannaidu also called for more food processing units to improve farmer earnings. Responding to political criticism, he cited support of nearly ₹1,000 crore provided to farmers during periods of price distress. Senior officials, local farmers and coalition leaders attended the event.
