Vijayawada, July 27, 2021: The opposition Telegu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday suggested that all MPs of the ruling YSRCP resign to pressurise the Centre to roll back the privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament.

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu recently announced that if necessary, all the elected public representatives of the party will resign to ‘save’ the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant from privatisation.

Former MLA and TDP leader, Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, suggested that Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy should respond positively to the gesture made by Chandrababu Naidu in a respectful manner.

He said, “Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister should come to the rescue of one lakh workers of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant since it is his basic duty. It was in the interest of the workers and people, that Chandrababu Naidu came forward to follow the CM. The CM should respond positively to him in a respectful manner.”

Murthy also alleged that the only aim of YSRCP MPs is to get their own rebel MP Raghurama Raju disqualified according to the reports published in indiatoday.in.

He said, “If the YSRCP MPs in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha resign, then the TDP members would also follow in their footsteps.”

The TDP leader recalled how CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised during the elections to bend the necks of the central leaders if he was given 25 MPs. “Now, his party has a greater number of MPs in both houses of Parliament and can bring the Parliament to a standstill till the privatisation move is withdrawn,” he said.

Meanwhile, reacting to Chandrababu Naidu’s announcement of TDP’s elected representatives resigning to stop the privatisation of the steel plant, CM’s advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said, “TDP MPs can resign if they want to. YSRCP is for the protection of the steel plant and its MPs are fighting for the cause in Parliament.”
