Vijayawada, January 22, 2022: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned loan assistance of Rs 1392.23 crore to Andhra Pradesh on Friday under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for the construction of three new medical colleges-cum-hospitals and five multi-specialty hospitals.
These infrastructure projects would improve the state’s healthcare facilities while also providing timely healthcare in remote tribal areas.
The medical colleges-cum-hospitals will be constructed in the districts of YSR Kadapa, Vizianagaram, and East Godavari. These new institutions will have major operation theatres, clinical outpatient departments (OPDs), dialysis, burn wards, casualty wards, specialised clinical-cum-surgical wards, and oxygen plants.
Meanwhile, the multi-speciality hospitals in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari, West Godavari, and Prakasam will have consultation rooms, an Aayush clinic, treatment procedure rooms, dialysis wards, diagnostic labs, an Operation Theatre (OT) complex, an OPD, general/paediatric/orthopaedic wards, etc.
NABARD has so far sanctioned Rs 3,092 crore for school projects under GoAP’s flagship Nadu-Nedu programme.
The funding will enable the construction of additional classrooms in 25,648 schools, as well as the provision of toilets and drinking water, dialysis wards, diagnostic labs, OT complexes, OPDs, general/paediatric/orthopaedic wards, etc.
