Amaravati, August 24, 2021: A week after chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed displeasure over the senior officials for not turning up in the Secretariat, the state government has brought the biometric attendance system back into operation.
Similar instructions have been issued to all the departments across the state. The bio-metric attendance system, which was kept on hold in April following the surge in Covid-19 cases during the second wave, was once again made mandatory with immediate effect.
Chief secretary Dr Adityanath Das asked all the special chief secretaries, principal secretaries, secretaries and heads of the departments (HoDs) to closely monitor the staff attendance on the biometric system.

He said that no exceptions should be granted to any officials in attending the duties from office except with valid reasons.

He said that all the officials should start functioning from their respective offices as the Covid-19 cases have drastically come down in the state according to the reports timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

He asked the health department to closely monitor the Covid-19 situation and keep the district collectors on high alert to take appropriate measures. “All the officials should be available during the working hours,” directed the chief secretary.

He asked the Information Technology department to operationalise the biometric devices in the state Secretariat and other offices immediately.

He also wanted an integrated report on biometric attendance to be generated and submitted monthly for taking corrective measures.
