Visakhapatnam, November 04, 2022: The CID personnel on Thursday arrested former minister and TDP leader Ayyanna Patrudu and his son Rajesh at Narsipatnam in Anakapalle district for allegedly submitting forged documents related to an encroachment.
The arrest has led to protests from leaders and activists of TDP across the state and they termed the arrests as nothing but revenge politics of the YSRC government. They also pointed out the role of CID in the case citing that it’s a civil case and the court will decide.
The locals said that CID personnel along with over 150 police personnel went to Ayyanna Patrudu’s house at around 2.45am on Thursday. With the entry of the police personnel, tension prevailed at the residence as Ayyanna and his family got involved in heated exchanges with the police. Ayyanna’s family members alleged that the police had come armed with wire cutters and forced their entry into the house, by pasting an arrest notice at the gate.
After a heated argument between Ayyanna and the police, Ayyanna was arrested in the wee hours for alleged encroachment of land and forgery. The CID personnel reportedly registered cases under various Sections-464,467,471 and 474 of IPC and a few of them are non-bailable sections.
Noticing the police personnel and arrest of Ayyanna, a larger number of Ayyanna’s supporters from TDP, reached his house and entered a heated argument with the police personnel. They also raised slogans against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSIRC government and demanded release of Ayyanna and Rajesh, who is a councillor from TDP in Narsipatnam.
Expressing anguish over the incident, Ayyanna’s family members and senior TDP leaders have questioned the need to arrest him during midnight as if they were thieves. They also alleged that YSRC government has been involving in revenge politics and they have been torturing Ayyanna’s family for past few years. They also said that Ayyanna and Rajesh have a threat to their lives.
Though there were speculations of Ayyanna being shifted to either Rajahmundry or Eluru, the CID officials initially shifted him to the CID office in Vizag city. Senior TDP leaders Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, Palla Srinivasa Rao, and others who reached the office were taken under preventive custody and shifted to different police stations.
It may be recalled that municipal staff demolished the compound wall at the TDP leader’s house at Narsipatnam with a bulldozer on the charges that it was built on encroached land in June.
The municipal officials reportedly issued a notice alleging that the former minister had grabbed 2 cents of land belonging to the irrigation department.
TDP supremo Naidu terms Jagan is Demon
The TDP national president and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday asked Jagan Mohan Reddy “is he the chief minister or a demon”.
Strongly condemning the arrest of the former minister and BC leader, Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu and his son, Rajesh, the former chief minister said that he was shocked to know about their arrests at Narsipatnam by jumping the walls and breaking the doors.
Chandrababu said that ever since Jagan came to power, he has been haunting Ayyanna Patrudu and his family members according to the reports published in timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
Stating that already 10 cases have been registered against Ayyanna Patrudu and his family members subjecting them to various kinds of harassment, Chandrababu Naidu said the police did not mend their ways despite the court finding fault with the CID with regard to the case registered against Ayyanna Patrudu’s another son, Vijay. The state has never witnessed incidents like this wherein the police forcibly encroached into the houses like dacoits and taking the residents into custody, the former chief minister felt.
Chandrababu said that the arrest of Ayyanna Patrudu is only to stifle the voice of the Backward Classes (BCs) as he is questioning the YSRCP leaders for looting North Andhra. Since there are no proper answers to the questions raised by Ayyanna Patrudu, the Government is resorting to these arrests and the registration of false cases, he stated.
Chandrababu demanded that Ayyanna Patrudu and his son Rajesh, who were taken into custody illegally, be released forthwith and unconditionally.
