Vijayawada, January 28, 2022: Two students, Rohit and Rithwik, were arrested by the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district for peddling drugs.
Rohit is a native of Bhimavaram and Rithwik, of Nallajerla in West Godavari district, is in his final year of a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course in Bengaluru. Rohit’s brother, Rahul, who works at a private firm in Hyderabad, is another accused.
The students were first consumers. Later, they became peddlers and started procuring and supplying drugs. Police are investigating to find out how long they have been supplying drugs like MDMA, LSD, Ecstasy and marijuana.
SEB commissioner Vineet Brijlal said as quoted by The Hindu, “SEB personnel picked up a ganja peddler in Guntur a few days ago. Based on his confession, police arrested Rohit. As per the call data retrieved from his phone, we formed a decoy party and rounded up his brother Rahul.”
One of the investigating officers said they were shocked over the wide network peddlers have in the state. Names of students and youths in various districts in Andhra Pradesh were found in the mobile call data and diaries retrieved from the accused.
Police found a diary in which details about Rithwik and two peddlers of Bengaluru were found. Based on this, police took Rithwik into custody.
Rahul would send small sachets of drugs weighing one or two grams when Rohit contacted him over the phone.
Rahul would conceal the sachets in the pockets of trousers and send them via private bus drivers coming to Bhimavaram from Hyderabad after paying them Rs 100.
According to the reports published in indiatoday.in after this, Rohit would receive them and supply them to users in Bhimavaram, Narsapuram, Eluru, Palakol, Guntur, Vijayawada and other places.
