Vishakhapatnam, July 22, 2021: The Vizianagaram district administration has decided to speed up land acquisition for Visakhapatnam-Raipur National Highway Project.
The project has been declared as an economic corridor under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I.
As per the detailed project report, the project starts from Abhanpur near Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and ends at Sabbavaram in Visakhapatnam district. The entire stretch is a greenfield alignment passing through Chhattisgarh (124 km), Odisha (240 km) and Andhra Pradesh (100 km). In Andhra Pradesh, most of the stretch will pass through Vizianagaram district.
Vizianagaram district collector M Hari Jawaharlal said they have decided to complete at least 80% of the works, such as land acquisition, by August 15 according to the reports published in timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
The district administration has decided to acquire over 1,300 acres for the project. However, some people are opposing land acquisition.The project has got environment clearance and the acquisition of land and forest clearance are in different stages of approval.
The district administration has also decided to review the progress of the project every month. The project is targeted for completion by the 2024-25 financial year.
