Vizag will be developed as a 100 billion economy city: Minister Lokesh

Visakhapatnam, August 30, 2024: The state human resources and IT minister, Nara Lokesh, announced that a new IT policy will be introduced soon to attract major IT companies to Visakhapatnam. The goal is to transform Vizag into a 100 billion economy city within the next five years, making it the IT capital of the state. The minister emphasized that 90% of new companies would be established in the port city, and office space would be developed to meet the needs of the IT industry.

Lokesh highlighted the crucial role that the IT and Electronics sectors will play in achieving Andhra Pradesh’s target of creating 20 lakh jobs over the next five years. He also mentioned plans to establish a world-class Artificial Intelligence University in Vizag, similar to ISB. The minister stressed the importance of linking Robotics, Healthcare, Education, and other sectors with IT for rapid development.

During an interaction with representatives of the AP IT Association, Lokesh stated that the new IT policy would be formulated after studying successful IT cities such as Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai. He assured that the people of AP would witness the Chandrababu Naidu 4.0 version and reaffirmed the govt’s commitment to decentralized development according to the reports published in timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

The minister also promised to clear all pending incentives from the previous govt and provide incentives to existing and new companies through a green channel. Additionally, he expressed his intention to bring back IT experts who had migrated to other places during the previous govt’s tenure. M Lakshmi, the president of the AP IT association, urged the Minister to encourage women industrialists.
