YouTube to set up academy in Andhra Pradesh, says Chandrababu Naidu

Vijayawada, August 08, 2024: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday announced that YouTube will set up an academy in Amaravati. Taking to X after an online meeting with Neil Mohan, YouTube global CEO, Sanjay Gupta, president of Asia Pacific (APAC) region at Google, Leslie Miller, global vice-president of YouTube, on Tuesday, Naidu said YouTube will set up an academy in the capital city.

Naidu wrote that they have discussed setting up a YouTube academy, in collaboration with local partners to foster artificial intelligence (AI), content development, skill development and certification programmes.

He further said that they have explored avenues for providing technical support for the Media City initiative in Amaravati.

In the meeting with the top brass of Google and You Tube, Naidu underscored the state govt’s dedication to fostering a thriving environment for technological innovation.

Naidu said that “Andhra Pradesh is on a trajectory to become India’s digital epicentre and we are enthused about prospects of partnering with global pioneers like Google and You Tube”.

Sources said that beyond a proposed YouTube academy in Amaravati, both parties agreed to delve deeper into the identified opportunities according to the reports published in timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

An MoU is slated for signing between the Andhra Pradesh government and Google under the initiative, “AI for Andhra Pradesh, Powered by Google.” This comprehensive partnership will encompass AI applications in agriculture, healthcare, and sustainability, as well as skill development, startup ecosystems, AI workforce cultivation, MSME support through digital credit and AI-driven governance.
