The government has placed documentary evidence of the alleged lapses before the Assembly, says Naidu
Participating in a discussion on alleged irregularities in conducting the examination, evaluation and selection of candidates in APPSC Group-I recruitment in the Assembly on Wednesday, Mr. Naidu dared the YSRCP leadership to respond to the allegations, keeping in view their seriousness and the impact on youth.
The Chief Minister said that he never came across such a ‘shocking episode’ in his long political career, while recalling instances of Ministers stepping down by taking moral responsibility for question paper leaks and even some minor wrongdoings.
He asserted that the government had placed the details and documentary evidence of the alleged irregularities before the Assembly and said the issue could not be brushed aside through political rhetoric.
He vowed to take stringent action against those who resorted to brazen violations during the recruitment process.
According to the reports published in thehindu.com, the Chief Minister made it clear that while cracking down on the guilty officers and staff and all others responsible for the bungling, the government would duly overhaul the functioning of the APPSC to prevent the recurrence of such irregularities.
He noted that the answers were evaluated in Hyderabad and at Haailand near Mangalagiri, and a false affidavit was submitted to the High Court, which eventually ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) as it did not trust the then government’s sworn statements.
The Chief Minister said a senior police officer who was the Intelligence Chief during the YSRCP’s tenure committed serious mistakes, and that the system would be cleaned up, adding that any party’s tendency to create chaos on the streets when not in power was not at all acceptable. “Even if the government keeps quiet, the people would make such parties pay a heavy price for their follies,” he said.
